The upholstered bed in our bedroom is a low-profile king from Wayfair in Zuma White, and honestly, it looks far more expensive than it is. I also link two Quince beds in my bedding posts: the Performance Linen Curved and Wingback beds in Ivory. Pick by headboard shape and how tall you want the headboard.
The four upholstered beds at a glance
Here's how they line up. The two Wayfair listings are our bed: my older posts link it as the Alrai, and my newer bedroom posts link the Tilly. The two Quince beds are the softer-shaped options I link alongside it.
| Bed | Retailer | Headboard | Where you'll see it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alrai Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed | Wayfair | Wingback | Our bedroom, in my older posts |
| Tilly Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed | Wayfair | Tall wingback | Our bedroom, in my newer posts |
| Performance Linen Curved Bed, Ivory | Quince | Rounded | Linked in my bedding formulas |
| Performance Linen Wingback Bed, Ivory | Quince | Squared wingback | Linked in my bedding formulas |

Our Wayfair bed: the Alrai and the Tilly
We chose the king size in Zuma White. It's a really pretty linen-style fabric and the perfect warm neutral, with clean lines, soft texture and a timeless shape. I've switched up this bedroom so many times, and it works with every season, from light neutral bedding to rich fall browns. If you're hunting for a budget-friendly bed frame that still looks designer, this one's a steal.
Both listings are linked so you can compare them side by side. My captions call ours Zuma White, so check the color list on each listing before you order.

Quince Performance Linen Curved vs. Wingback
These two are the same bed with a different headboard. The Curved has a rounded top, and the Wingback is squared off with wings at the sides. Per Quince, both are handcrafted in Chicago on a kiln-dried hardwood frame, upholstered in a performance linen blend, and built as a low-profile platform with wood slats, so no box spring is needed. Each comes with a 40" or 48" headboard, and delivery is white glove, with assembly included.
Quince's upholstered bed with wood legs, the one I styled this spring, is sold out on my LTK right now, so it isn't linked.

How to choose an upholstered bed
I'd start with the headboard. A wingback reads tailored and a little traditional, and a curved headboard feels softer and more modern. Then think about height. In a room with standard ceilings, I'd lean toward the 40" Quince headboard so the art above the bed still has room to breathe. With taller ceilings, the 48" fills the wall. My guide to decorating with 8-foot ceilings has more on scale.
All four sit low, so the bed doesn't take over a smaller room, and the light fabrics keep the whole space feeling calm.

What I put around it
A light bed needs something darker next to it. I paired ours with raffia and wood nightstands for a little texture: the dark finish grounds all of our layered bedding, while the woven raffia keeps them from feeling too heavy. I love the contrast of the black 6-light chandelier, and the vintage-look wood bench at the foot of the bed gives the room that collected-over-time feel.

Frequently asked questions
Can an upholstered bed float in the middle of a room?
The Quince beds can. Quince upholsters the back of the headboard too, so it looks finished from every side.
What bedding goes on an ivory upholstered bed?
I always start with a neutral foundation and layer from there. A light bed is the perfect backdrop for soft, tonal bedding, and my how to layer a bed post walks through the exact layers.
