My neutral Christmas decorating ideas for every room start the same way: realistic greenery first, then cozy textures, twinkle lights and a few warm details like wood, brass and brown velvet. I keep the colors to cream, green, gold and brown so the rooms feel connected. Here's what I'd do in each one, with the pieces linked.
Neutral Christmas decorating in the living room
For me, a neutral living room is the warm glow of the tree, soft neutral tones, layered textures and natural wood. I'd leave the sofa and rug alone and add Christmas in small, soft pieces: brown velvet pillows, a tabletop tree on the coffee table and stockings on the mantel. My stockings are from Target. The tree is in how I decorate a neutral Christmas tree, and the mantel is in my Christmas mantel garland steps.

Entry or console: keep it small
My entry console stays simple: a black mirror, a garland with warm lights, a few wood Christmas trees and a black candelabra, with my favorite woven leather ottoman tucked underneath for texture. A big greenery arrangement in a black vase keeps it looking fresh and full. One styled surface is plenty for an entry.

Dining table: greenery down the middle, tapers on top
On our dining table I drape greenery across the middle and add little trees and brass candlesticks, so it feels festive without getting fussy. I'd stop there, because the table still has to be clear for dinner. Tapers at different heights add the glow. The garland is from Darby Creek.

Bedroom: garland over the headboard and soft light
In our bedroom I hang wreaths over the woven artwork and lay garland across the upholstered headboard, and it makes the whole room feel cozy and collected. The garland below is from Quince, a paid partnership. Battery string lights tucked into the greenery give it a soft glow. More wreath ideas are in my faux wreath roundup, and the full room is in my Christmas bedroom post.

Kitchen: just the window
In the kitchen I drape garland over the window and leave everything else alone. The rest of my kitchen ideas, including the barstool swags, are in my Christmas kitchen decor post.

Powder room and other small spaces
For a powder room, a shelf or any small space, I'd keep it to one small wreath and one scent. A small wreath fits on a chair back, a cabinet door or a mirror, and a little Frasier fir scent makes a tiny room smell like Christmas. The wreath is from Etsy.
